The
Australian Centre for Concrete Art, is a recently formed group of
artists who work in a way similar to the international art movements
usually thought of as abstract minimalist.
Concrete Art, or Konkrete Kunst as it was first known in Europe began
as an art movement in the 1930’s. The general principles of
concrete art reflect an emphasis on the material basis of art making;
non-representation, purity and singularity of structure.
The wall work designed by Trevor Richards is the second in a series
of temporary works planned for this site, and is the result of a co-operative
relationship between ACFCA members, Giancarlo Daniele of Sandrino
Cafe, and the Artworks in Public Places Committee of the City of Fremantle.
The artist wishes to thank Dulux Paints for its support of Project
No. 2. |
