Bunkers Intervention, South Mole, Fremantle.
November, 2004.

I decided to make a paint work in the small concrete
bunkers that are near the lighthouse at the end of the mole. My intention
was to paint only the interior of each bunker, one in a bright, reflective
colour and the the other in a dark absorbent colour to materialise
the outwards/ inward dichotomy that my experience of the location
suggests. A chair was placed in
each bunker to indicate a presence and focus. The bunkers were locked
for the duration of the project, with the grilled windows and doors
being the only visual access to the work. The viewer is positioned
outside. |
